Everyday 100 different apps make their way into respective app stores. with the world at their finger tips, children can easily access any sort of information via any app they choose to download.
However as a parent, this is a bit of a concern, as some children, who in pursuit of more information, stumble across the underbelly of the internet, which is home to several malevolent entities.

Here are 5 apps that you should be weary of, as a parent:

KIK MESSENGER:
The App allows kids to send private messages that their parents can’t see. There is no way that you can know that the person on the other end is who they say they are which obviously poses the risk of sexual predators chatting with your child.

POOF!
The Poof App allows users to make Apps disappear on their phone with one touch. Kids can hide every app they don’t want you to see on their phone. All they have to do is open the App and select the ones they don’t want you to see. The good news about this App is it is no longer available. But, if it was downloaded before it was deleted from the App store, your child may still have it.

OMEGLE
Omegle has been around and has gamed fame for its notoriety. You do not identify yourself through the service – chat participants are only identified as “You” and “Stranger”. You don’t have to register for the App. There is a high risk of sexual predators and you don’t want your kids giving out their personal information, much less even talking to strangers.

SNAPCHAT
This App allows users to send photos that will disappear after 10 seconds. Once the recipient opens the picture, the timer starts. Then it’s gone. From both the sender’s phone and the recipient’s phone. However, the recipient can take a screen shot of the photo and have it to share with others and that.

TINDER:
Tinder is essentially a dating app that links two Facebook profiles and allow the two to communicate. Even though the only way to login to the app is via Facebook, there is still a chance of children falling prey to sexual predators who masquerade under fake Facebook Profiles.
This is why you need to become a better Digital Parent. Stay informed about the going-on’s of the Internet and get accustomed to various apps that help ease the process, such as eKavach. By doing so, you can always be that go-to-guy for your child when they need your help.
