The wedding season might be some way off, but anyone who intends to get married then has started gearing up in order get the best deals and the best apparel for the wedding. It is not just the television soaps, most of the weddings these days are going in for the plush multiple ceremony weddings. With every detail thought out from the haldi ceremony to the reception, many of these weddings are also taking the help of professional wedding planners and event planners to get for their special day the atmosphere they have dreamed of.
All of them had hair of gold like their mother the youngest one in curls! It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight. Straightnin’ the curves. Flatnin’ the hills Someday the mountain might get ‘em but the law never will. Today still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. So this is the tale of our castaways they’re here for a long long time. They’ll have to make the best of things its an uphill climb.
Traditionally the bride is the cynosure of all eyes on the wedding day. This occasion are all about beautiful clothes, jewellery, and a celebration of bringing two families together.
Indian bridal wear is one of the most detailed and heavily ornamented wedding fineries in the world. Some of the more detailed bridal wear often tend to cost as much as a small car.
India is famous for its Zardozi work, Pitta work, Kundan work, Moti work, etc. Techniques such as Khatla work, Batla work, and Marodi work are extremely time consuming and are often techniques passed on from generation to generation. Here is taking a look at the various attires for the various functions of the Indian Hindu Bride.
For the Haldi ceremony a sari is usually not advised. A yellow dress is usually the norm with minimal accessories. For the Mehendi ceremony an elegant churidar usually suffices, but many prefer to go for a saree these days but it is tough to handle it considering the henna on your hands and legs.
Accessories for these ceremonies are usually minimal with blinking earrings, maangteeka and maybe a fine necklace. One can definitely experiment with a saree for the sangeet, but many prefer the flowing lehengas as it makes the dancing easier for the bride.
For the big day, the bride needs to look nothing less than a million bucks. Most brides tend to follow the classic red saree format, but off late many have begun to dare to look beyond it.
Heavy, classic weaves and embellishments are also a great hit. A red ghaghra, lachha or an elegant churidar are some of the simplest yet most graceful bridal wear. The red colour is atypical to the idea of the Big Fat Indian wedding.
Sarees are hailed as one of the most sensuous of traditional wedding attire. In recent times many of the old variants of the saree have been overshadowed by the designer attire, but even there the old handicraft techniques of weaving survive.
Comfort is of primary importance for the bride, with the wedding ceremonies already stretching so long it is painful for the bride to suffer in something that suffocates her.
Indian bridal wear is some of the brightest apparel, and off late there has been an infusion of oomph in it. The jewellery is another important part of the wedding attire.
A nathni is a very beautiful addition to the face for a bride, or a maangteeka. A baajubandh for the arm and a kamarpatta for the waist can also add to the glamour quotient.
A girl dreams of her wedding day all her life, and she deserves for it to be perfect. Make sure that your wedding day is perfect, and do not stall your preparations till the last minute. Have a great wedding!
With the clouds hovering over us, and not many showers to speak of, it is easy to get lured into a false sense of security that monsoon is yet not upon us. But rain does not give prior notice. Ladies, it is always a wise idea to stock up on some bright colours and breezy fabrics which are easy to dry off. Boutiques in Ahmedabad have begun stocking up for the monsoon.

Most people get angry at the rains primarily because it disrupts many of their best laid plans. But that is where fashion steps in to save your day. Let pastels give way to cheerful colours and sleek sandals give way to trendy rain boots. Monsoon is all about having fun, the season of rains is about living life to the fullest. Tattavam Ahmedabad brings you some of the best ways to step out trendy in this season of rain and thunder.
Get a Funky Umbrella
Add a little zing to your walk this monsoon, add a bright umbrella to your accessories. Not only will they help keep you dry, they are also incredibly useful when in a pinch. One swing of a steel umbrella can stun any man, enough to allow you get away time.
Choose a bold coloured umbrella, maybe even with bright print on it. Cartoon characters may look a little school-girlish, but a dripping Snoopy is a guaranteed inducement to smile.
Get a Cool Raincoat
Another trend that is coming back in a big way is the rain trench coat. It can be worn over your regular trendy attire like short skirts or dresses. Opt for a belt to nip that waist in and help complement your figure.
There are various bright coloured trench coats available, if not you can always get it from tattavam’s customised collection.
Experiment with Fabric
Allow this monsoon to help you set new trends, experiment as much as you can with different fabrics. Crepe, Chiffon and georgette in a multiple shades of azure green, or the dull-milky blue of a calm se or even bright yellows can look amazing in this season. A short, many-hued dress is a must have this season. For those that like their colours bold, follow that approach in your clothes this season. Men can try colours like green, slate grey and deep shades of brown and burgundy to help them break the monotony of black and blues.
Wear Rain-Worthy Footwear
The right footwear may just be the most important attire this season. Avoid wearing shoes or sandals made from leather as this may result in you ruing the loss of expensive footwear. Instead, go for a simple pair of sandals. Rubber flip-flops or slingbacks can also work quite well.
Remember to keep it fashionable and colourful, that is all. High boots are an in thing this season. Match them with your umbrella or raincoat and you have the perfect wet-proof attire to stand out in a crowd.
The Right Hair and Make up
Make sure your hair behaves this monsoon. Tie it up in a neat pumped pony to give it that neat, fresh look. The humid weather can be an absolute pain to manage make up. Keep it simple. Leave your runny mascaras and smudgy kohl and opt for bright hues for your eyes. Cream based eye shadows are usually waterproof and easy to use. Also choose to go for bold colours for your lips. A perfume is crucial. You do not want to smell like a soggy cat when drenched. Floral or citrus are the perfect accompaniments for this weather.
So make sure that you are at your trendiest best when you step out this monsoon. Come rain or shine, fashion must prevail.

Gaurang Shah is known for beautiful textile details and bold colors. This year at the Lakme Fashion Week, Mr. Shah brought us the world of Gujarati textiles, known as patola.
Patola is a type of double ikat textiles woven in geometric patterns in bright colors. They originate in Patan, Gujarat, of which only three families now work in this closely guarded industry.
It is a real treat to see patola saris and lengha appear on the runway. They can each take six months to one year to weave. Patience is a virtue!
Mr. Shah's collection was nothing short of bold, primary colors, reds, yellows, and blues. Actress and dancer Kiron Kher walked the ramped and dazzled us. She said the navratna saree was so inspiring and beautiful, it prompted her to stun the audience with a dance piece! Her stunning navratna Patola sari and dupatta teamed up with antique. silver necklace.
For women's wear, Gaurang created anarkalis, lehengas, shararas, ghagras, saris and khadi dupattas. His line was based on ‘streedhan’ representing Gujarat. He did include some new colors like pink, and fused traditional designs with parsi embroidery and zardosi work.
For the men's collection, Gaurang created four looks. The men wore traditional outfits with Patan patola sherwani, dhoti, kurta and even a turban (pagadi).
Gaurang summarizes his collection:
“Amalgamating this exotic fabric with my signature fabric- Khadi, I wanted to give a whole new dimension to the patolu. Accentuated with parsi embroidery, kanjeevaram borders, gota’s and fabric textures...It is a revival of the motifs with which patolu was begun centuries ago taking inspiration from the ‘rani-ki-vav’ like rattan chok bhat, nari kunjar bhat, fulvadi bhat, pan bhat, chabadi bhat, popat kunjar bhat are not just motifs woven but stories and emotions.”
The best way to describe this collection, from a Gujarati saying, “padi patole bhat, faatey pan phite nahin” meaning, "the design laid in the patola may be torn, but it shall never fade."

The label, Siyaahi, was launched in 2010 by the gifted duo, Poonam Sanghani and Rohit Dubey.
In their latest collection for Lakmé  Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013 “Starry Night”, Poonam and Rohit aim to bring to you an expression of the soul of the denim fabric. Their upcoming creation spells youth, freedom and heritage. Beautiful indigo shades of denim have been draped onto indo-western curves and then embellished with sophisticated embroideries.
The duo explains, “On the skies of denim silhouettes every meteor and star has been very carefully aligned, this is our vision of Starry Night. Each garment is an embodiment of the legacy of the denim fabric molded into contemporary designs and finally adorned with very subtle embroideries which enhances the overall look of the creation.”
Sequins, pearls, metal wires have all been used very delicately to give glimpses of a starry night in certain parts of the garment with a balanced mix of heavy embroidery in other areas. In shades of blue along with ochre yellow, deep red, off-white and black, the pair has tried to bring forth the new avatar of denim along with hints of silk.
Known for their fresh take on traditional elements as well as unique use of crafts, the label has grown from one force to another and gathered many accolades on the way. Watch out for this pair’s creativity at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013.
